Safety regulations
Prohibited Items
For safety reasons, the laws of all countries prohibit the following items in checked or carry-on luggage:
- Highly flammable materials such as matches
- Substances that release flammable gases when in contact with water
- Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and superoxide
- Toxic and infectious substances such as mercury and cultures of bacteria and viruses
- Radioactive materials
- Corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, and wet batteries
- Strongly magnetic materials
- Gasoline-powered devices and tools, even if they have only contained small amounts of gasoline
- Briefcases with built-in alarm systems
- Explosives and fireworks, including flares
- Gas containers such as tear gas, self-defense sprays, camping stoves
- Containers with flammable liquids such as lighter fluid, paints, varnishes, and cleaning agents
