Prohibited Items

For safety reasons, the laws of all countries prohibit the following items in checked or carry-on luggage:

• Highly flammable materials such as matches
• Substances that release flammable gases when in contact with water
• Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and superoxide
• Toxic and infectious substances such as mercury and cultures of bacteria and viruses
• Radioactive materials
• Corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, and wet batteries
• Strongly magnetic materials
• Gasoline-powered devices and tools, even if they have only contained small amounts of gasoline
• Briefcases with built-in alarm systems
• Explosives and fireworks, including flares
• Gas containers such as tear gas, self-defense sprays, camping stoves
• Containers with flammable liquids such as lighter fluid, paints, varnishes, and cleaning agents
